Nerds, Jocks, and Hipsters. OH MY!

So there you are in the cafeteria, next to your friends who are shooting milk out of their noses and talking about World of Warcraft. You're thinking, "What has my life become?"
OK, well, maybe that's not your life, but it's mine. I came into high school with the hopes of being one of the most popular kids in school. I mean, that's what it was like in 8th grade, why not 9th? But what I found was that either I had to hang out with the nerds or the idiots.
My first attempt to communicate with anyone was in my theater class. I found a nice group of friends who seemed fun. Sure, a little nerdy, but fun. Next thing I know, I'm in the thick, drowning quicksand of a clique. But here's the thing. There's no way out. To escape one clique is to join another. High school is simply one large building full of the black holes that we call cliques. And not even light can escape a black hole.
So, what can we do? Try to live with it. I'm assuming that you're reading this because you either are in high school, or you are a thespian and you were so bored that you looked up "thespian" on blogger. Either way, you seriously have to reassess your priorities. But now I'm rambling. Bottom line? Live with it, and just try day by day to make the cliques a little bit less powerful. Accept a jock and a hipster in the same group. And maybe one day kids will be writing about how they don't fit in with their group, instead of how disgusting it is to see a warped reflection of yourself in your friends face.
